This study aims to examine the effect of minimum wages and the number of business units on labor absorption in the industrial sector in East Java Province during the period 2010–2024. The manufacturing industry sector plays a role as one of the main pillars of the East Java economy, which is expected to absorb a large number of workers to reduce the unemployment rate in the region. This study uses secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of East Java Province, with a sample of 29 regencies and cities. The analysis method used is a quantitative approach, with the assistance of Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS) software version 2025. The results of the analysis indicate that partially, the minimum wage and the number of business units have a positive and significant effect on labor absorption in the industrial sector of East Java. Meanwhile, the results of the simultaneous test also show that both variables together have a positive and significant effect on increasing labor absorption. This study indicates that increasing the minimum wage and the growth in the number of business units have an important contribution in expanding employment opportunities in the industrial sector. Therefore, policies related to minimum wages and the development of business units need to be continuously monitored and maintained to avoid creating obstacles in the labor absorption process. The limitations of this study lie in the number of variables used and the limited observation period.
